Default 2004.5 dodge ram diesel catalyc converter removal

I have a 2004.5 dodge ram 2500 diesel and was wondering if I can remove the catalyc converter easily or do i need a kit. Is there O2 sensors and if so how do u get around them both?(bypass or fool) Also was wondering what size exhaust do these trucks have? Mine is stock and looks like 3.5 inch? or are they 4?Also wondering what gains do u get from removing cat?

all you need is a straight piece of 4" exhaust pipe

no real gains. . .maybe 50F lower EGT's

ok cool. so there is no downstream or upstream o2 sensors (oxygen). So the exhaust is 4 " on a stock 2004 diesel?

Drew's right 4" is stock. I found a bigger difference switching to a flow thru muffler. The stock muffler is packed with insulation baffles, and switch back sections of tubing(read restrictive). Dropping the cat (which is illegal) removed a large source of heat, and gave me slightly lower EGT's. Cool down time after running hard is also shortened somewhat. Pictures are of my old 5" Expandit system, and newer 4" ANSASilverline Stainless system.
Cheers
Mike

o2 sensors are for gassers[:'(]

we have no sensors on the exhaust, however the 6.7's do have some kind of sensor[:'(]

it seems to be hit or miss.

most of the time the guys that take the performance hit are the auto's. guys with the 6spd's dont seem to suffer as much.

the auto's seem to have more paracidic power loss than the sticks. it is also gearing. my NV5600 is geared a good bit lower than your 48RE. also the programming in the computer is a bit different. I can put my tranny inany gearand ease out on the clutch, the computer will automaticaly compensate to bring the engine RPM's to 750rpm no matter the load.

1st 4lo and stumps are comeing out of the ground
