Default Heater core??

Just wondering if anyone has ever replaced a heater core in a 97 ctd one of the guys at work has to do so but cant figure out how to get at it? He started to pull the entire dash out but do you really have to go that far? Any info would be great

yup. . . .the whole dash has to come out to get to it. . .I know . . . it sucks

I've had to replace the one in my 96 1500 twice. Yes the whole dash has to come out. You also have to disconnect the A/C freon line and that sux too. You are looking at an 8-10 hour job if you have never done it before.
