Update, I went back to my brew like stated above, this tank netted 17.6 mpg which included a towing trip to the lake and back pulling my camper!

man I'm really curious as to the hiway mileage my truck would get with stockers on there.... I reached 19.0 mpg coming back from Mt Whitney. when I put the current tires on there I lost 2~3 mpg. 105 lbs each vs 60~65 lbs each... [&:]

If we weren't on opposite sides of the country, I'd suggest we swap tires and rims for a week to see. I'm gonna fill up at the end of this week to see what empty mileage I get. Last week before towing I had 460 miles on the first half tank. I took pics that I'll try to post tomorrow. Once I hook up the camper and drag it through the foot hills around here it starts to drink likeman. [8D]

That's what I get now, but I am also in the dang mountain, constantly up and down the hills, and only at about 7500 miles on the clock

when I got my 19.0 mpg coming back from Whitney I had several long steep grades to climb, kept the boost at or below 10 psi for the whole trip (well almost, passed a few people here & there). Also had to climb to 9500' over Sonora Pass.... going down the backside of it I had it in 1st gear to let the motor do all the braking. It was pretty cool actually... all the other cars coming down the hill had smoked their brakes (could smell it) while I rarely had to use them.

Some guys on the old Ford forum I used to visit have noticed that above 5000 feet their new 6.4's are gettting much better mileage. One person chimed in and said that the emissions regs are less strict above that elevation ( to allow fordecent performance) and that the ECM on the truck (which has a baro sensor) can use a "different strategy" hence the better mileage above 5K. I wonder if we experience the same effect? I don't spend any time above that level to do my own testing. Maybe some of you mountain folk can do some testing and report back?
