got a 2002 2500 short bed and it has 108,000 on it. tranny is coing out for sure. around how long should these things last? only 108,000???? [:@]also, how long would a built tranny last? only another 100,000?
the bigkillerof auto's is heat. . .if you keep the tranny fluid under 170F the longer it will last. however you also have to keep in mind the stock internals are not as 'robust' as what you can get from the after market. stock is built to keep costs down, aftermarket is trying to keep things from breaking. but even then an after market tranny still only has a servicable lifetime, and the more power you put through it the shorter its life, dependent on what grade parts are used.
