Tranny not upshifting
Hi all, My '99 2500 quad full bed Cummins automatic is real reluctant and skippy in the upshift. It seems to not like leaving second the most. Especially when it is cold. I live in NW Montana so that is most mornings. I took it to the dealer and they did a update on the computer but to no avail. I am reluctant to just start trying this and that like a filter and backflush for $165 then mechanic test drive at $75 and then... Any one had this or have a suggestion?
Thanks Jimbob, on my horse Daffy in montana hoping to shift better soon.

Same thing started happening on my '97 this summer. Turns out it was a grenaded pump. Had to yank the trans. Since I don't want to deal with this again, I converted it to a 5-speed manual. I've heard there are other possible causes to this 2nd gear thing, but I'm not sure what exactly they were. Try doing a search in the truck section of this forum.
