When to change the LONGLIFE engine coolant?
I have a 2004.5 dodge ram 2500 4X4 quad cab diesel. I bought it used so I dont know when the coolant was last changed. (196000 km now). I know its red ( long life) and it looks pretty clear in reservoir tank and under rad cap. Do you think I should change it and if so what kind to get? Should i goto dodge dealer and get what they give me or can I get any other long life? all i know is i need 28l roughly to fill it completely and i know i will be mixing it with distilled water. Is there a drain **** anywhere as I cant see one under my truck? and is there a valve somewheres to bleed air out after?
I would go to a heavy duty truck shop (semi trucks) and pick up extenedlife coolant there. Yes its better then tha automotive coolant. The automotive stuff is good for about 4-5 years. The heavy truck stuff is good for 6-8 years or300,000 miles.
so is all of dodges newer 3rd gen trucks come factory with pink long life coolant?so if my truck is a 2004 i dont have to worry about it till 2 years from now?
