Just wondering what you guys thought of the new 3.0L turbo diesel that is offered in the 08 Jeep Grand Cherroke. In the newer issue of diesel they were talking about it and they liked it. They recorded close to 20mpg but they said the suv needed another 20-30HP, stock is 215HP. The magazine dynoed it at around 190HP and over 350lbft of TQ. And think someone told there is a tuner avaiable that gets you 50 more HP and about 90 more lbft of TQ. Just want to know what you guys think of it and I believe it is a mercedes benz diesel engine which in my opinion are pretty good engines.

 

I have no idea why, but for some reason I'm just put off by diesels in cars. I guess I'm just reminded of those old Mercedes that smoked like the dickens and were loud as hell back in the 80's.

 

And other than its a Cummins this now differs from your truck how?

 

they have many problems.... My best friends dad its the head guy of the service department of the diamond chysler dealer and he says that have many problem rightn now , mainly with the computers.

Smoke pouring from a truck is acceptable to me, however smoke pouring from a car isn't.
