about six weeks ago my truck has started becoming rooughidle atinitial daily start up. what could be the problem. and this started before the walmart diesel from the other post. it doesnt always do it but this morning at 10:30 it was worst yet. dropped it off at dealership ofcourse they said they couldnt duplicate situation. Was also dropped off for coolant leak. They said "loose hose clamp".

Mine was a leaking injector. It would also put out some white smoke with that shake. To diagnose they had to pull the exhaust manifold off after sitting over night and start it up to see which port the smoke was coming from. They then pinpointed #6 and replaced the injector and no more problem. None of the other checks they did could convince DC to let them replace an injector.

mine sometimes idles rough. I wonder if it isnt a certain fuel maybe.it especially seems to run (idle) rough when ac or defroster is on. Its like the ac compressor clutch kicks in hard for an idling cummins. I have no white smoke at start up. Just that vinegar type oflow sulfur smell. Whats another test for an injector? Could a person unplug one injector at a time to isolate which one isnt doing anything? I mean unplugging the electrical connector to each one at idle

You may want to try using a good fuel additive. Any time mine runs bad I use16 oz of Lucas to a tank of fuel, then load a ton of weight in to the bed and take it on a drive for a few hours and it has cleared up any problem I've had so far. If the fuel additive does not clear it up then keep after the dearlership to find the problem.

you dont need that in a 2007 model!!

the stuff will screw with your emissions equipment and sensors!!!

marvel is not yet rated ULSD and diesel kleen just came out with their ULSD rated formula.

the new ctds are so sensitive in the emissions area, that you are causin more harm than good.

run a few tanks of just straight diesel (ok unless youre in san francisco ) . see if that doesnt clear things up.

well after taking my truck to the dealer ship they finally told me that they ran the computer and showed 33% of the life of my truck was idle time. That is what they blamed clogged injectors, which became a maintanace issue. So they did a desiel injector system clean, something like that. I picked it up today and drove around for awile and cranked it a few times. For the time being its doing good. ($213 later)
