Welp, those cold morning/days are finally upon us...just one question...is it the cold air that brings out the ohh so sweet smell of diesel exhaust, I mean, it's almost intoxicating.

You know what I miss....Drew you'll understand this...the smell of JP-8 on a cold morning...there is something special about the way a HUMMVEE smells when colder than snot. I get a fix of it every now and then when there is a convoy or I'm out on post and it always brings a

my old duce smoked something fierce when cold. . .and had a lovely smell. . .plus smoked like a freight train when warm. . .I played with the pump

my old 5-ton wrecker didnt do too much smoking, mainly cause I didnt have the time to play with the pump. . .now I drive a hemmit wrecker(8v92 POS) I can hold the RPM's at 1200 for about 30 seconds then floor it and shell send out some smoke signals, but nothing like my old duce.

#2 does have a good smell, but theres just something different about JP-8.

I too remember the smell of JP-8...only we used it to fuel helo on the ship....either way was a good smell...much better than when the we were in plane guard position for the carrier and they were dumping fuel....misting right onto us as we were outside on the deck taking pics of take off and landing.....

Never did get that smell out of the dungarees!!!!

Could be worse, had an IH today with a broken fuel injector tip. After running for about 20 sec, I couldn't see the shop roll up door that was 30ft away. Looked like really thick fog (pure white smoke). Smelled like diesel for some reason though[sm=confused06.gif]

JP and diesel smell sweet for sure. Us guys that have cats still can get a wiff of regular diesel exhaust at first start of the day for a couple seconds until thte cat warms up. I don't remember now what we used to fill up the S3-A planes I used to work on in the Nav. I want to say it was JP3. Stang Luvr you know?
