I just installed the Quadzilla Commander and on my first run with it I bunched it to get on too freeway and I saw my EGT jump up too 1500 F very fast[sm=insomnia.gif]. Need less to say I let off of it right away. I detuned and now I am around 1200-1300F, is this still to high?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Well, i start backing out of mine at 1200, pre turbo, 1300 if I am almost over the hill, but never more than a few seconds, The melting point of aluminum is 1200 degrees if I remember correctly, Is your pyro probe pre turbo or post turbo? If its behind the turbo your egts are actually higher than your readings, To answer your question 1200-1300 is too high to run for very long IMO.

1200 is getting warm. . .but the 3rd gen HPCR can run 1100-1200 all day long without any problems. . .1350 and higher is when you have to start backing out.
12valves and 2nd gen 24 valves can only handle upwards of 1200 due to piston and head design and metalurgy. the 3rd gens have different alloys for the construction of the pistons and have valve seats to keep things from going bad.
spikeing above 1350 only for a few seconds wont hurt a thing. it is holding it above 1350 for an extended period is when you'll start to melt things. also when you get above 1600F things will begin to go awry real quick unless your engine is setup right.
also note, the temps I quote are pre turbo. . .post turbo will be approx 300F cooler.
