Ok guys need a little help, heres the scenario, I was making a short approx 5 mile trip to the store. Upon start up in my driveway, I noticed a cloud of what looked like black smoke come out of the exhaust, and I never usually see that. So i thought that was unusual and began on my way. As i was driving at approx 50mph with 1200-1300 rpm, the truck seemed like it was not bogging down but didnt really want to respond as usual. When I gave it some throttle, the truck didnt accelerate like it should and black smoke poured out like it was the end of the world. Looked pretty cool but had me worried. it did that several times so I ended up puting the bully dog down to stock. When I arrived at the store, it was a drive thru and as you well know, they cant hear crap so i shut the truck off. When I started the truck back up, it was idling really rough like it wanted to stall. So now im even more worried. i pulled out of the store and began the drive home. About half way there the truck was idling fine and no more thick black smoke. I have no idea what happened and if its something i need to worry about or look into. The fuel filter was changed about 2k ago. Please give me some feedback as to what you think happened or what I should do. Thanks in advance.

 

no black smoke anymore from my truck but i can tell u this. when i start it in the morning first thing when its -5 celcius out my neighbor wakes up because it surges and idles rough. like its going to die. My father in law has a 6.0 ford ps and he laughs at me because his runs smooth at startup.

 

Yeah I have no clue, just makes me wonder if I gotta problem on my hands. Plus I just went outside to check things out and as I was looking under the hood, not touching anything, the horn chirped, WTF!! First thing I looked to see if someone was in my truck about to get shot, then saw nothin, ever heard of that?

 

Keep the truck in stock mode (no bully dog or boost fooler) and see if its normal again. You may have a chip malfunction or something associated with your mods. When I used my BD (old model, not triple dog) it caused CEL at first and I had to send it back for repairs.
