Default BHAF

i wanted to upgrade my stock air filter on my 2001 dodge cummins. im currently running low on funds and heard that the BHAF is a cheap and effective upgrade. however i know very little about these things and seek help on what some of you more experiance owners think of this product. will i see gains in horsepower, throttle responce?doeschanging the tube from the airfilter to the turbo make a differance, if so what is recomended?if running a bhaf is a heat shild neccessay? i live in hawaii with tropical climate if that matters.any help is greatly appreciated thank you..

I run a BHAF (BIG HONKIN AIR FILTER) and it is imo the best mod I have made to the truck, my egts dropped by 300 degrees and the filters outlive stock filters by 3X (and i live in rural s.d.) lots of dirt around here. I also gained 2 mpg in fuel economy, I know it sounds likeb.s. but It only makes sense, more air in means more efficient combustion and lower egt,s On the same note stay away from K&N, I have seen many that have let too much particulate through and ruin a good cummins. My filter is a baldwin filter and its made for diesel applications, I have a 2nd gen truck and I can post pics if you want to see the setup.

I have the amsoil air filter (4510) and it is ten times better than the BHAF. yeah costs 25 dollars more but it flows better, filters better and last forever.

its also oiless

I couldnt believe how loud my turbo was when I took the BHAF off and installed it. I also dropped another 50 degrees on the EGTs
