Default Lookin at buying my first Dodge

Well except for my 70 Duster lol. I went to the local Dodge dealer and test drove an 08 2500 Cummins and I loved it. I test drove an 08 2500HD Duramax and thought it was crap. My question is what is yall's opinion on the new 6.7? I've seen the 5.9 prove itself in just about every way. I just want to make sure it's gonna be worth the extra payments to get a 6.7 as opposed to getting a 3rd gen 5.9. I know it's new and has kinks to be worked out and that it hasn't had much of a chance to be tested or proven, but I just wanted to see if y'all have heard anything through the woodwork. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.

I've had both the 5.9L and the 6.7L. I've had very little problems with the 6.7L and love the 6 speed auto. Ideally, I'd get a 5.9L with the six speed automatic (which is unfortunately not a factory option). I went with the 6.7L and the 6 speed auto. You've driven the 6.7L, go drive a leftover 07 with the 5.9L and see what you think.

I have about 7,500 miles on my 6.7L, and I really like it. My 'check engine' light has gone on a few times for a code related to the turbo, but it hasn't happened in the last two months. There is a Dodge recall for all of the 6.7s to get new software loaded into the PCM and a new oxygen sensor, so I need to get mineback tothe dealer. I am getting around 15 MPG. The exhaust brake is a great feature. The new G56 six speed manual is fantastic for guys who like to shift, and I haven't heard anything bad about the six speed automatic.

I got the 5.9 and love it only down I got is I wish I had that 6 speed auto... Yes the 5.9 has definately proven itself and I get about 16 city and 22 highway. some guys claim they get 14-15 city and 17-18 h/w with the 6.7 but I can't tell you for sure....since the 5.9 is only 30ft lbs TQ less I went with it which you can easily make up for that 30 TQ with a programmer...

Personally I liked the idea of having a proven engine and lower payments so thats what made up my mind, but I haven't heard anything bad about the 6.7 I mean its a CUMMINS them guys know what their doin, they built an engine or 2 in there day..
