. . . . . . .This is the reason Drew is so proud to proclaim that he is his own warranty station.

it is mostly cause I used to work in a dealership and I saw first hand what happens when complete idiots are hired to work on someones vehicle. someone with little knowledge is a VERY dangerous thing and will cost the owner of the vehicle and dealer more money thanit should.

I showed the Smarty website and claims to someone that I know well, trust and is a highly trained/skilled diesel tech, He said that no programmer is totally invisible. There are tell-tale signs left behind that can be detected by someone who knows what they are looking for. Granted, just taking your truck in for "normal" repairs is not going to raise any red flags. But if you have major trouble, the powers that be are going to want to see more data about your truck. They may ask for specific data to be recorded with the star scan and transmitted to whoever is the decision maker on diesel warranty issues. Now withcan bus systems, a vehicle can be hooked up to the star scan or star mobile and info transmitted over a wireless network..
Now for the lighter side.....Since I access to many trucks, someone send me a Smarty and I will do some test to see if I can shed some light on this subject...

David if you don't get one sooner, I plan to make a road trip at some point down that way, I need to get the window that you helped me out with tinited :-) It won't be for a few weeks but, I'd be happy to let you check it out on my truck. Since there's no warranty on my engine away, it's be a good one to look at. I'd be very interested in what's found. As you said though, if you dig deep enough and you know what you're doing... you just may find something. Might be a good time to just let you do the reflash on my truck :-)

BTW, got your new window in today, but am waiting on some additional packing supplies to come in before I send it. They should be there tomorrow, so I can send it out UPS tomorrow....

Will do man, I'll call you a day or two before. Xmas is coming and ATL is where the malls are [&:] It will give me an excuse to not have to go shopping with the ladies :-)
Thanks again for taking care of the window [sm=icon_cheers.gif]

Please let us know the outcome of the findings. The warranty thing is about the only obstacle I have currently.
