Default knocking noise in front end

Hey guys. My truck makes a knocking/clunk sound over bumps or when I`m braking it will make a single clunk. I lifted the front end and noticed a little side to side play in both the upper ball joints. Its worse on the right side. If I push on the top side of the tire it moves a little and makes a small clunk sound. Is this normal when there is no weight on them? The truck has 80k miles, most of which is highway. Thanks. Kevin

ball joints. dodge engineers made a good product but cant seem to get the weak front end issue solved. maybe they could get a engineer from ford over for a week or so just to help solve weak front end issues.i heard of ball joints failing in 2006 rams with 15000 km. now thats a $%#$'n problem.!!

My brother has a 01 with 250k and original ball joints. So are ball joints a 3rd gen problem?
