Stiction is actually the word in the TSB for Ford. Thier fix for the problem in the 6.0 motors is to cycle the injectors for 15 or30 seconds after shut down. It is the strangest thing, you shut off your truck and it clicks at you for 30 seconds to drain all the oil out of the injectors. Glad I am not driving that thing any more.

Back to the topic. My engine makes more ticks, clicks, knocks,and other weird noises than I like. Drew even heard it andcompared it side by side with his engine. Mine is louder. I have just decided that it runs good, gets good mileage, put down decent numbers on the dyno, so I'm not gonna sweat it.

 

just got back from dealer. Left the truck overnight. They were able to hear the niose and compare it to a new 07 cts. They said noise is alittle louder but not much. We got a rep from Dodge on the phone and the said all is normal noise. Apparently they said the pistion on these motors are oval. When they heat up the turn round thus decreasing the noise. didnt make much sense to me. Anybody have any comment on this.
Also said my oil was 3 quarts low. I have 3K miles on this oil change. He said the norm is to loose 1qt per 1000 miles. Never heard of that either. They did a flash on the trans and motor. Not much of a difference

 

The pistons are most likely slightly oval. Most diesel engines are. The theory is that the heat and very high compression makes them get round while at normal operation temps and conditions.

 

3 QUARTS LOW!!! something aint right

 

3 qts. Yes I checked my driveway and we inspected the under carriage at the dealer, no leaks. I am thinking my last oil change was filled anout half way up the stick. The dealer topped the oil off at the top of the stick. So realistcally I think I was about 1 qt low, ehick I thinlk is normal for that many miles

 

interesting. . .Ive got around 10K on my curent oil and have maybe burned a pint.

atleast the engine isnt making oil
