shifting trouble (1st to 2nd)
Hi, I'm new to these forums I thought I'd drop a question here about some shifting trouble I am having only recently. Any help would be appreiciated!
Recently, I noticed during mild acceleration, that my engine would be roaring in 1st without shifting. I accelerated even more and finally it did shift at exactly 2300 RPMs when usually it should have shifted at 1700-1800 I believe. Shifting from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th is normal. This seems to only affect 1st to 2nd gear. At this time I also noticed a check engine light was on.
I went to the dealership, and had them pull the code and this is what it said..
The code said something like "Transmission Throttle Actuator Valve Stuck On" or something to that effect. At this time I also noticed my tranny fluid was low by about 1 quart.
Ok easy fix right, top up the fluid and all should be well. Well I did top up the fluid and the problem is still there. I think maybe it has something to do with the recent cold snap we've had here, of -20 degree celcius weather.
I thought if a valve is frozen then it would do better once my engine is at full operating temperature, and after taking an hour drive, its still giving me trouble.
The dealership booked me an appointment for 2 weeks from now but I can't wait since I use my truck daily for work as do most of us I'm sure.
Does anyone have any insight for me to fix this myself? Or perhaps some technical reference links for me to dive into and learn? So far I'm stumped. Thanks a lot!
