Default Turbo Diesel the Next Muscle Car???

I was watching an episode of Truck U the other day and they were interviewing drivers at a diesel drag race event. They were saying that these trucks are going to be the next muscle cars, because they are easy to upgrade and have lots of power, are rear wheel drive and easy to work on. I then thought to myself that I could see the 5.9L Cummins being the next big sought after engine several years from now. Just like the vintage Mopars with Hemi's are now. What do you guys think???

Also, at the drag strip 90% of the trucks were Dodge. There was one Duraflop that had an oversize intercooler on it that stuck out in front of the bumper. It looked so retarded, then wife wife reminded me that it was a Chevy and it was supposed to look retarded.

Bob, I agree 1000% and I was just thinking that myself a few weeks ago. I've got my Nova sold and I was thinking about getting a small car that gets good mileage ( for obvious reasons ) but I was also thinking about getting a 2wd Cummins truck to hop up as well.

For those that say it's expensive - well - it is, however I still think it's less expensive than building up a Chevy runner.

I'd love to shove a CTD into a Dakota R/T body. I know it's been donein ahandful of racing rigs built by somebig diesel shops, they're seriously hauling *** with 1/2 the weight of the full-sized trucks. Maybe someday there will be a bolt & go conversion...

I think they ARE the new hotrods!

Lets look at a 600-700hp "hotrod".The engine is probably going to run you $14-$20k dollars to build/buy. Not to mention all the other money you would throw into the vehicle to make it look good and be functional, still then the streetability is questionable. So you are probably into this thing for $40-$50k when finished.

Buy a new diesel truck, install programmer, injectors, twins and a full built tranny, and you could accomplish the same amount of horsepower, AND be able to pull a trailer...And still remain streetable, for about the same amount of cash outlay. PLUS you have modern conveniences like air conditioning, and safety stuff like airbags, and parts availability is also a plus.

I'll take the Diesel.

Yes, I too have been looking for a CTD to fix up. It's hard to find a good one. Sooner or later one will come around.
