I Need More Heat!
I now have a 01cummins, the problem is im only geting about 110f blowing out of the vents. Its 15-30f outside now, its plugged in all nightand i let it idle for bout 30 min every morning b4 i headout. I changed thermostats, flushed heater core(great flowthru it). Temp guage is bout 170-180on average,I have noticed it seems to run rich during warmup for 15- 20 minutes any suggestions would help!
hm... im not sure what mine blows out of the vents but its dang hot! i would think 110 would be plenty hot too... no?
but they have little space heaters for trucks that plug into your cigarete lighter if you need more...

how bout puttinga winter front on it, would that bring up your water temperature enough to make more heat? Mine seems like it takes forever to get warm and it hasn't been below 25 here so far...It doesn't get up to 190 until I'm wfo on the highway...
110 sounds about right. . .your not going to get the same temp out of the heater core that the radiator sees. if the heater core pushed 180-210F it would melt something.
Stop with the 30 minute warm up. You're just wasting fuel. These trucks don't warm up like typical cars do. You need to be moving in order to make heat.
I think the winter front might be your best bet. It may not get any warmer than 110, but it should get there faster for ya.

So Mayfair how long should these trucks idle before it leaves the yard? Here in Yellowknife NT, "Thats on the top of the Canadian map" LOL it's getting around -33 with a wind chill of -42 Celisus? [:'(]

30 min is rather excessive. . .2-5 min is good when it is cold. just enough to get the oil warm. the engine will take care of itself.
if you are going to idle that long be sure to bump the rpm's to no less than 1000rpm.
