Default black smoke & pinging

need help, 05 3500 turbo diesel smokes really bad, under heavy accel it pings and smokes black smoke, air filter and fuel filter fine, no diesel leaks detected.

it idles fine. runs very strong just pings really bad and smokes really bad

Anything done to the truck? If so maybe the timing is advanced to far?

just an inexperienced stab in the dark. maybe inter cooler boot blown off?

if it was an intercooler boot comeing offthe truck wouldnt have full power and you would have this deflaiting balloon sound.

been there done that. . .forgot to tighten one of the clamps after installing my bypass filter.

When mine blew a boot, I was pulling a 9000 lbs tractor on a trailer. The truck had no power (45 MPH MAX) and it sounded like a huge hair dryer under the hood. There was no black smoke or pinging.

Check your fuel pressure out. It could be that your pump isn't putting out enough volume and your rail is running dry.
