Default THINK MY DUAL MASS CAME APART.

i was driving home today and i before i shut of my truck i gave the throttle a little blip and as the revs came down it rattled like no tommorrow. so i investgated further and narrowed the rattle to the tranny. there is a very small slit between the trans and engine and i can see a pin laying there. looks like a dowel pin. mannnnnn i really dont wanna take it to the dealer. i really dont want some schmuck taking my trans out. GRRRRRR im just gonna have to recheck everything. but has anyone had there dual mass come apart?

best way to tell if your DMF is on the way out is to park the truck then with it running raise the engine RPM's. . .if she starts shakinglike a dance club go-go then you have a problem.

since the DMF is a two piece design, and is designed to lower incab rattle it adds drive line slop due to its design.

if you ask me, I wouldnt even think about going to the dealer for this one. . .call up Peter at south bend clutch and get the DMF elimination kit

Is this a common problem since they sell an elimination kit?

the DMF is purely for creature comfort... better to get a solid flywheel and a better clutch.

edit: oh yeah, if your after cushy comfy ride... dont get a truck.
