Default 1st. gen noise

i have two first gen engins both making a rattiling noise that sounds like its from the turbo... under acceleration and on a slow despool, one of them on acceleration, will pick up to about 15psi of boost then start fluxuatig an not go any higherwhen this noise is heard, but letting out and getting back in it, cleans it out. the other engine just makes the noise a lot louder but no performance problems, to best describe the noise, it sounds like a rattle snake.......any ideas????

years are 91 with boost problem, and 93, the turbo bushings seem to be ok... as far as play, they are not accsessive at all, both are around 300k and pushing around800-900 foot lbs

are you in the USA where the new ULSD fuel is used?

if so, it may be that both fi pumps have gone to the way side. the ULSD will eat the seals out if they are not newer with in the last couple years.
