Default fuel gauge

I have a problem with my truck's fuel gauge. When I hit bout 3/8s of a tank the truck dies. I could still hold maximum fuel but now I havent gone that low but I'm thinking its workin good again. Could there be something with the float that caused it to read wrong and now it fixed itself?

I'm wondering if you may have something wrong with the pickup tube causeing it not to pick up fuel from the bottom of the tank.

Default RE: fuel gauge

Dodge uses a fuel sending unit module that is spring loaded to fit a variety of applications, it has a hard plastic coiled hose that comes from the pickup screen and takes fuel up to the pipe going to engine, The plastic pipe rubs against the plastic housing and rubs a small hole in the suction hose, I have seen them run and then give the problem you have described if the pipe moves away from the housing just a little and exposes the hole, then it sucks air instead of fuel. Sounds crazy but I have changed out a few of them. I wish I had saved the last one i did a week ago so i could take a picture for you. Just a thought.
