I've heard this issue before. Some say it's only cosmetic, but if you can get free replacement tires out of the deal then do it. You should be able to get any tire in the Michelin/BFG family as well. I read a thread on this several months ago and those that had the most success called the Michelin 800 number first, got a case number, then took that case number to a Michelin tire dealer. That left no wiggle room for the dealer to try to get around the warranty. I've got them on my 07 too, and watching them closely. Hope it works out, stand your ground the warranty does cover it.

 

Your going to get nowhere being nice to a tire dealer. They are basicly only going to be reimbursed for the labor charges from Michelin and they will have to fill out paper work plus send the tires to Michelin if they ask for them. I'ts a pain in the *** for the tire store I'm sure but it's the cost of doing bussiness. If you let them, they will drag their feet and hope you go away.
You'll need to demand they call Michelin on the phone and get the aproval. The manager at NTB did it and it was 7:00pm central time. They had him go out and check the tread depth on my tires and confirm that there was less than 2/32 tread wear. Once that was done, it took maybe another ten minutes on the phone and it was done. I would have got them that night but they were not in stock. That tire you have is accually discontinued and has been replaced with another model that is about $15 more per tire. You can even choose a different Michelin tire if you want and pay the difference.

Don't let them BS you. Walk in there with the Michelin Warranty card in your hand and show the manager. Tell him what you expect, be a ***** if you have to but it is thier job to take care of your warranty issues.

 

Howdy all. I'm new to the forum so I'm learning protocal. Got the tires squared away. I went to a different Michelin dealer and they squared me away and fast. Real nice folks. They definately agreed that the tires needed to be replaced and called Michelin. Michelin agreed to replace the tires and pay for everything. I have run BFG AT KO's on my trucks for years and asked if it was possible to get that tire instead of another Michelin. They said no problem just pick a tire and pay any difference in tire price. I went with 305 65 17 BFG AT KO. The dealer had 'em in stock and put 'em on this evening. Just got 'er back home. They look good. I'll try to get some pics soon. Thanks again for everybody's input. This seems like a cool place.

You got a leveling kit or lift on your truck? Curious if you have any rubbing with the larger tire.

 

Cujo - I don't have a leveling kit. Truck is stock and no rubbing but I just drove 'er home and didn't get a chance to do a full test and turn lock to lock. I'll havea chance to test it tomorrow and update if there are issues. I doubt it will though. A guy I know is running the same tire but in 315 70 17 and it fits fine with no leveling kit and he says it doesn't rub.

 

Let me know. I noticed small cracks in mine too around the bead. Are those load range E?

 

if u call michelin they will tell u were to go and they will replace for free they did mine at 9000 mile

 

Cujo - I tried 'em out today and no rubbing. These are "E" rated. I wanted to keep the heavier ply for this truck. I had forgot to put 4x4 in my sig. I put about 120 miles on them today. They ride good. I'll be getting the gps out to check any speedo differences but it doesn't seem to be way off. The cracks on my truck's original tires must have been there when I bought it new but I didn't notice it since they had the clean up shiney goop on the tires for delivery. The Michelin warranty states that you can go through a Michelin retailer to get resolution. Some of the other folks that have commented had similar issues but it seems to vary on how workeable the tire retailer is. Hope this helps.
