Let's just say it doesn't get much play. It's the factory AM/FM/cassette... I thought about installing a CD player, but what's the point?

Didn't mean to hijack the thread... just thought it was humorous.

the smarty Jr only has one programming for it. . .you wont get torque management with it.

BTW, I loaded #5 yesterday. . .below 2K with the TST on 2/2 everything is fine. . .above 2K and MY LORD I had some nasty injector rattle. . .to the point I couldnt even run the TST on 1/0 without the engine getting nasty loud.

One way to know for sure is to use the Tow/Haul button on your shifter. You got me to thinking so I took it back to stock and tried to see how the RPM's did with the speedo. And yes it kinda looks like you hold a steady RPM with a little flutuation while the speed increases. But I think that is torqu managment and is normal. With Tow/Haule mode on, there is a dramatic difference in how the rpm's act. They tend to more or less increase as speed increases.
Tow/Haul mode locks up the TC in 1st thru 3rd if I am not mistaken.
So I loaded up Smarty level #5 (90 hp) and tried my theory. Without Tow/Haul on, I notice what seemed like the tranny slipping like crazy. Then I Tow/Haul on and tested it again. I did not notice any slipping as I gave it 2/3 throttle from 60mph up to 90mph. When I tried this with it off, it really felt like the TC was slipping badly.
So as far as I am conserned, the stock torque management with the Smarty on #5 or higher is too much for my tranny to handle. But If I use Tow/Haul , I can verify that my TC is not toast yet and appears to be working fine.

I updated the Smarty last night with the moderate Torque Management software (not avaliable on the Smarty Jr). I am going to test it this weekend and see if I am able to run #5 without Tow/Haul mode on and see if I can keep it from slipping with conservative daily driving.
I don't know how some of these guys claim they are running level #9 with a stock tranny. I just don't see it happening for more than a few hundred mile before the tranny is toast.

I hope to soon be able to afford some tranny upgrades and not have to worry about this any more!!

TH mode only locks the TC in 3rd gear, rather than waiting until 4th.

In 1st and 2nd it does not lock it, it only modifies the shift points and pressure....holds the gear longer and shifts more firmly.

Also, when coming to a stop it keeps the TC locked until it's about to stall the engine. Sounds almost like a mini-Jake brake.
