Trans Hp question, What can it take?
I have a cummins 07 2500 5.9, smarty, mbrp exhaust, minus cat, sitting on 35's. I currently have it set on 60hp +timing. Thought it felt fast till I raced a friend with same setup, except his was on kill, 170hp. oncewe got into second (autos), I thought I put my truck in Reverse!!! He had to pull on me by at least 6 trucks. No air filter, fass pumps, intakes, Nothing!. WE both have the same amount of mileage (about 6000). He has had this tune up in the truck since the third week of owning it, no problems with trans, I'm scared to go past 60hp, dont want to hurt the trans. My truck is a everyday truck, and basically my only vehicle. I do occassionally come across some trucks that do want to play around, but since I cant shift on the fly, I want it set it on a desireable tune. I do mostlyhighway driving, and some stop and go. If not always on the loud pedal am I always hurting the trans if I turn it up? I for the most part drive it like a baby due to the cost of diesel around here (3.54). But I do occasionally lean on it. Any help would greatly be appreciated it.
From what I have gathered being in this section, anything over 60-80 hp over stock the transmission will start slipping, even though it is not noticable, but it can cause damage in the long run. The other guys here know alot more than I do about the subject, though.

My self I switch back and forth between #3 and #5 and try not to be too hard on it on 90 hp.
