Default Can anyone help me????

I just got a 99 dodge ram 2500 quad cab 4x4 cummins 24v. and would like to increase the hp and torque, but dont know whereto start, I would like to find out more info on programmers for one but other than that I'm not sure where else to go. I am going to be entering sand drags and 1/4 mile drags, please help and explain, I am just learning and want to know what certain things do why they are good and why some things aren't so good.

first you will need to upgrade the tranny to handle the extra power, then upgrade the lift pump so you dont run out of fuel and starve/kill the VP44 injector pump.

there are alot of good programmers for the 2nd gen 24 valves, smarty, bully dog being two of the better ones. in terms of performance boxes TST, edge, and a few others.

just remember. . .you need to build the foundation for power before realy getting into it for the automatics or you will burn it up. torque converter and a valve body at a minimum. however you can get a box now and play around with it, but dont go over 60-75hp or the TC will begin to slip.

Thank you for the help, just lookin for a lil more power not too much, but that is a good start. Could you explain more to me about the programmers and boxes, maybe explain to me what they can do and why they are good. And if you could explain the lift pump, like what it does and how to upgrade and what to get for an upgrade,. Thank
