Default wiring schematic.. wiring problem?

Hi...
I have a 1992 3/4 Ton, Dodge Cummins Diesel.. 4X4
I need a wiring Schematic... The prolbem I am having is the alternator was not charging, so I replaced it, and put new battery terminals on it. Relay on driver side fender clicks several times when you turn the igniton on, and wait for the wait to start light and others to go out. But the relay that is clicking is for the fuel pump and auto-shutdown. Tach is also jumpingat around500 rpms, when truck isnt even running. When I turned the head lights on, without truck running, the tach went back to zero. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks

Welcome to the Forum, Heres something to look for. Follow the drivers side +battery cable to the fuse box. I think that there is a 140 amp fuse in the box that this cable goes to. It will be red and the only fues that is bolted down to the fuse box. See if this fuse is blown. I am not 100 % sure that this applies to a '92 but is worth a look. I have seen this problem alot. If the fuse is not blown, I can get email you a wiring diagram when I get back to work on Monday. I have a '93 shop manual here at home but have no way to scan it....

89-93 dodge diesels have a external voltage regulator mounted on the fire wall justa above the last valve cover, When i get a no charge complaint on any of those years that regulator is the problem 99% of the time. it square about 3x3 and has one plug going into it. The reason your tach is goofy is the signal for it comes from the alt.

i hope everything worked out for you, but if not, i just happened to have a '92 dodge 3/4 ton cummins, that had a very very similiar problem. the thing that solved my problem was replacing the crankshaft position sensor. it messed with the tach, told the alternator to quit charging, and messed with all of my lights making them flicker. happy hunting!
