I'll bet the complainers are driving around with 35's under a 4~6" lift. both of which will kill your mileage.
i have stock tires, a straight pipes aeroxl exhaust, no lift and i was running a quad xzt box untill i just got my power puck and i am still in the 12's on average with no highway...... all highway will give me near 15 but never over at around 2300 rpms. i have heard this same story from alot of guys with the same year truck..... im just trying to make sense of it[>:] anyone thing it could be bad injectors?

I am all stock as well, no lift, 265/75 BFG stock tires, around 75K on the truck, stock exhaust and cat. I keep around 2000 to 2300 on cruise and accceleration and hand calc every tank. I am right there with nicoletti on mileage, 12 avg around town and 15 to 16 highway @ 2000 rpms.[]

Maybe it'sjust SILVER 2005's, that's what I have as well [8D]

I'm only running 33's. Everything is stock except that I had to cut my cat off because it was plugged. I have 3.73's, so I don't know why I can't get better than 14-15 mpgs. I'm hoping the brew and the new Max Mileage box will help. It should be here tomorrow. I'll keep you posted.
ah, the truth comes out... dude, get an aero 4040 and put it where the cat was and you'll get another 1~1.5 mpg. i had a straight pipe & 30" magnaflow installed and lost 1~1.5 mpg, then 6 months later, added the aero and got it back. your egt's will climb a little but you should have no problems with that setup, it's far better than stock. I was also down in the 14's with that setup...

GRI... if I went to the 4.11's with the existing tire size, might still work out better than the 3.73's. what do you think? IIRC the stock tire diameter was 30"...??
I'm sure it will help. thats my setup and I run 16-19 with out a module. I want to run a mileage box and see what I get.

as for the others. there has to be something wrong. there is no way that you should be seeing that poor of mileage.

Sure wish you lived near me. I have 4:11s and want lower gears, OH Well.
I think I'd jump on a gear swap with someone if they were resonably close, where are you at?

I agree, there has to be something off on those trucks that are getting crap for mileage. I would suggest getting an oil analysis done at 5000 miles on the oil... see how much fuel is in it. if there is minimal, then you can rule out a leaky injector.

also if you have an open intake & exhaust, that will kill your mileage.

Just my .02 and a little FYI. I have a 2006 mega with 4.11, stock tires 265/70/17, K&N Filter. I drive roughly 35 miles to work one way, with about 18 miles of interstate and 18 miles of 2 lane. I drive at least 75 on the interstate, so the RPM's are around 2400.I use PS white blend on every tank, my overhead say 14.1 all the time. I have hand calculated my last 6 fill ups. 15.88, 15.68, 15.70, 15.89, 15.78, 15.88. Oh.. and my truck has 20,100 miles on it.

that is better than 12-14. but I think you'll see some improvements in the next 10K. I did.

Not that much, I have only had the truck for abut 8 months. I pull a 21ft Stratos boat. The truck doesnt even act like its back there. My uncle has a land buisness and he has 7 diesel trucks and countless trailers for bobcats , 580's and such. I have pulled a few loads for him. I pulled about 60 sheets of plywood and some shingles for him, would guess about 6000-8000 lbs. Didnt have much trouble pulling it, butI did not check the milage because I only pulled it about 20 miles.I have a freind that has an 08' and we pulled a 16' boxtrailer to and from Pike county, IL on a whitetail trip. The box trialer had an atv and a mule, and 4 deer and a crap ton of gear and he only got 8-10 mpg on the way back. But thatwas a seriously heavy load.

sounds like your motor is still breaking in then. if you can hook up to a heavy load and run it up a long steep hill, that will help speed things up. without towing... mine felt like it took about 50k (not joking) before it settled into the way it runs now. I'd run synthetic since about 30k and additives for a long time, now I rarely run any additives (mileage testing) and can easily get mid to upper 17's on the hiway. If I really try, upper 18's are possible. Keep in mind the configuration of my truck... 33's, exhaust, intake etc...
