Hey yall I have a friend who has a 06' dodge quad cab cummins non 4x4. he owns a shop where he carries a lot of furniture and household items. he spends alot of time on the freeway towing. what kind of setup would be good for gas mileage and to get a little extra gallop in that Cummins?

 

what gears is he running?

is it a stick or auto?

What if any mod's has he made so far?

In https://dodgeforum.com/m_1037052/tm.htm one of our guys is doing a whole bunch of things and documenting what it does to mileage. Would be a good read to get an idea of what does what to mileage on the CTD's.

 

no mods, manual, dont know what gears it just a stock quad cab plus cab, long bed not a 4x4

 

06 manual. . .it'll have a 3.73 running gear packed in the pumpkin.

as far as a little more get-up-and-gone, if he depends on the truck for his buisness. . .I realy wouldnt look at doing too much to it. granted me running at currently 425hp at the wheels I havent had a problem. . ..yet. . .however all I depend on my truck to do is get me to and from work till I get my yoda fixed. . .got a bent C clip in the tranny[:@]

anyway, a little bump in power will help. . .and generaly any box or programmer on the lowest level will help in mileage and boost performance a little, but just remember, since he is towing, I wouldnt go big on power with that stock clutch.

quadzilla makes a decient towing box, TST also has some, Van Aakein, Edge. or if you want a programmer, smarty is a very good programmer, bully dog is also another good one.
