Default New Noise

I changed the bushings on the sway bar last Saturday and it fixed the clunking noise that made the truck sound like it was going to fall apart on rough roads.

Ever since I did that my truck has been making a squeaking noise that only happens at parking lot speeds and when I'm turning. Very embarrassing when I'm in parking lots. Sounds like a flock of seagulls.[:@] I thought it might be the new bushings, so I greased them today and it didn't help.

I've also noticed that the steering wheel kind of jerks when I turn corners. It doesn't straighten out smoothly, it jerks.

I've also got a clunking when I turn the steering wheel back and forth when the truck is in park. Sounds like something is just worn out, maybe a tie rod end? The steering is still tight and no shaking at highway speeds.

I don't know if all of these are related, but they are all definetly getting worse. Anyone have any ideas?

the steering sound and feeling is caused by one of your 4x4 ujoints at the wheels seizing.

That's what I was afraid of. I've had to replaced all the other ujoints on the truck. I don't know why I thought I could get away with the ones on the front axle. I'll just have to bite the bullett and tear it apart next weekend.

Thanks 04CTD, and welcome to the forum.
