Yea right you're the one doing consumer reports on all these trucks. And he actually has registeredondiferentFord and Chevy forums today.I actually own a 6.7 SLICK. He wont take my word as far as durability and quality of the CTD, hewill just have to find out on his own. This is the right forum Yea I've had some problems with my 6.7 but I just ordered the S&B for it and the dealer is working with me on all these problems. Most of them taken care of?? Some one help this guy he really likes the Duramax.

MHO. . .the duramax is proving to be a very good engine. . .I realy dont ahve anything bad to say about them. . .asside from if you want to crank some serious power out of them(800+hp) you'll be looking at the crank thrown into the asphalt if your not carefull. however how many people are wanting that much juice
my only true gripe about the chevy's is that crappy IFS on a 3/4 and 1 ton diesel. . .[:'(]
Ford. . .well. . .the new 6.4's are having their learinging curves just like everyone else. . .give them time and a new engine or two and they may have things figured out. . .BTW, did you know the 7.3L is pretty much standard in the 5/650's
Dodge, yea, there are a few emissions issues with the DPF, past that the engine seems to be taking everything in stride.

Thats it!! I will no longer reply to this thread. If you want a Chevy go for it, if you want a Ford go for it, Just remember I will be here for you when you need someone to tow your nice looking FORD and to catch a flying crankshaft from your nice interior Chevy!! LOL

RE: HELP, about to buy a new truck!!
Well I'm a certified Powerstroke tech, so I'll give you a rundown of what i've seen on the 6.4's. They have defective radiators from the factory so shortly after you buy the truck you will see a puddle of coolant under it and have to bring it back in. The new radiators that we put in fix the problem. DPF's are another thing I've seen in a larger number. Those are the only COMMON problems I've seen with the 6.4's. I had one today that I put EGR coolers on, and I actually have one in the shop right now that I'm putting a new engine in! Somehow or another cyl #2 lost compression, and Ford told us to just go ahead and put a new eng. assembly in. But I will stress this is the first one I've seen with this major of a repair. I have done one with a bad high pressure fuel pump, and for that I had to take the cab off! So all that should give you a little idea about them.
