Gauge installation input request
Hey guy/gals
I just ordered my gauges, Autometer Digital Oil Temp/ Exhuast Gas Temp/Oil Pressure and Mechanical boost gauges. I am going to mount the boost gauge in the SRT A pillar pod, and the others in the over head pod, beside the review mirror. I have also ordered 3 rotary switches so that the gauges can be upgraded to monitor more paramenters in the future if needed or required. If anyone can offer any advice on the installation and what to look out for or suggestions it would be appreciated.
I had a hard time trying to decide on Digital Monitor or conventional gauges. A Digital Monitor was alot cheaper than conventional gauges. I went with the conventional gauges for the main reason that they all have their own sending units and can act as a back-up for stock sensors. The advantage of the Digital monitor is that it will automatically defuel if any hi limit parameters are exceeded. I do not plan on heavily moding my truck therefor I decided to go with the conventional gauges.
I am going to install the rotary switches so that I can simply add another sensor in the future and monitor another parameter, example: Switch position #1) Transmission Temp
#2) Engine Oil Temp
#3) Differential Temp
Thank you for any and all input

Thanks Mayfair I have already read your DIY, I will review it again just before I do the install, that way it is fresh in the brain. I have ordered three digital gauges and I am not sure if you can dim the readout untill I recieve them. This is why I have chosen to install them in the overhead display below the rear view mirror.
I am going to go with a power fuse block for gauge power, a terminal block for all of the grounds and another terminal block for the gauge illumination lights from the dimmer switch which will also be fused. I am also going to label everything.
