Default Lower Door Panel Rusting Out

Anyone having trouble with the lower door panel rusting out on the 2nd gen. trucks?
If so, what are you doing about it? Should I just take it to a body shop and have
it repaired, or should the entire door be replaced? The dealer says they havehad
some people come in within the corrosion warranty and Dodge just replaced the entire
door. Any comments or information would begreat. Thanks.

Had a problem with a '98 tailgate, this was around 2004-2005. The dealership replaced the tailgate. Itseems itwouldcertainly worth a try, swing by the dealership and see what they say.

Knoce wood, I haven't had any door rusting problems, but out of nowhere my rear bumper bubbled up and just started rusting. It almost happened overnight. It looks like someone poured battery acid on it or something. Weird ...

I have door rust about to come around to the shiny side on both doors. Last guy put that chrome siding on to hide it. I will probably get some southern doors when I can.

I had problems with mine, checked around town and everyone was saying close to 1,300 bucks...with no guarantee because its rust and its just going to come back...so i just sanded it down and painted over i do this about every three months because it comes back...but if u get new doors i would suggest trying to find a way to drain them better....the problem with dodge ram doors is when water gets on the side of the truck the door isnt sealed very well so it get in there and sits...this is were the rust is coming from...try some weather strip....you can pick it up at any hardware store...hope this helps

I had this problem on a '97 extended cab. Surprisingly, the rest of the body was in great shape. Unusual for Ohio, where they use lots of salt on the roads in winter. I didn't fix the doors, sold the truck as-is and bought an '04CTD. I'm trying to minimize my winter driving in the new truck, hopefully to avoid this problem. (crossing fingers!)
