Default Torque converter lock up..

Just purchased a 2000 quad cab 24v CTD with the 4 speed auto. It has 112,000 miles and is pretty much all stock.

I have noticed that the when i am driving uphill the torque converter will sporadically lock and unlock until the engine rpm’s get above 1,400. It happens in both 3rd and 4th gear. If I depress the accelerator petal further it will continue to rapidly lock and unlock either until the engine rpm’s get above 1,400, or it downshifts.

Does this sound familiar to anyone??

p.s. I love the forum so far, good information…

I dont' know for sure, but it sounds a lot like an issue other people have had and it ended up being a corroded ground connection. Check all the battery ground connections and clean them up. I believe it worked for Mayfair....
