Daimler Chrysler did own a majority of stock in Detroit Diesel. Now that Diamler has sold 80.1% of Chrysler, I'm not sure who holds the D.D. stock, but I would bet its Diamler. Also, future plans call for a Ram 1500 with a smaller Cummins in it.

GM just this week announced that they will be spending $69 million to upgrade the Duramax plant here in SW Ohio to build the new 6.6 Duramax diesel. That's good news to the workers in this area. This plant is a GM/Isuzu parnership.

As to who owns Cummins, of the202.2 million outstanding shares of Cummins common stock ( ticker symbol CMI ), 175.9 million (87%) are owned by mutual funds, which in turn are owned by pension funds, banks, and individual investors.

Yes Daimler owns Detroit Diesel, as well as Freightliner trucks, Western Star trucks, and Sterling trucks.

I was told by the dealer in Kellogg Id. that Ferd owned Cummins, and Mercedes owned Chrysler, don't know who owns Mercedes, that there had been plans in the works for 2008 for Mercedes diesels in Dodge trucks. Now, we know that didn't happen, so who the hell knows. With all the Mega Corps. in the world today it all might be owned by Bill Gates. By the way anyone hear on the news, Exxon Corp. posted the largest profit ever in history for an american co.?? this year? 40 BILLION !!!!!!they said it wasn't the high prices of fuel, but research and the opening up of alternatesources.........maybe they own Cummins..

We have an early 90's GMC Top Kick at work with a cat engine in it. I don't know if cat would ever trickle down to GM's 3/4 an 1 ton trucks

no Ford does not own Cummins, Cummins owns Cummins. and Mercedes(Daimler) did own Chrysler, but recently sold it to Cereberus. And Daimler AG is the company that owns Mercedes, as well as the Maybach brand and Smart(yeah the tiny little cars) as well as the companies I listed above. And any corporation is not owned by a single person, but by the stockholders. Now a person could own a majority of the stock making him/her pretty much the owner.
