Default Diesel engine run time...???

when you plug a Ram 2500 with the 5.9L diesel into the scanner and it spits out "Engine Run Time" "Idle time" "fuel used" what are those measurements in? hours? minutes? seconds? gallons?

are those numbers acurate?

TIA

Eric

I think Drew posted something about the run time a while back. I did not pay much attention to it because it did not work for my year truck.

hours, hours and gallons. Doesnt matter if those numbers are accurate, those are what dodge and cummins use for warrenty. They should be fairly close though for the most part. If you had an ecm replacement or had issues programming, it could through the meter way off. Had a few IH's that blanked the ecm while reflashing and if you dont have those numbers to enter in to program the blank ecm, then you get to start out at 0.

just talked to the diesel mechanic and he said run time was seconds. which when you do the math comes out to be about 30MPH and 14MPG based on about 965 gallons used and 13,500 miles driven.

it can't be hours...here's the number the tech got from the scanner 1575224.6. if that were hours that would be almost 180 years. if it's seconds it = 437.6 hours which makes way more sense when you do the math.

now the idle time is prob hours...here's the number 85.8. 85.8 hours of idling in 1 year and 8 months would be 8.6 minutes per day. quite a bit of idling actually. but I would think not too out of the ordinary for a grocery getter, which I believe this truck to have been. it could be minutes but it doesn't leave a lot of time idling on a per day basis.

Well when it records idling time does that include when you are stopped at a stoplight?
