OT: Zamboni must use dodge 48RE trannies
Went to the Penguins/Sharks game tonight. As soon as the Zamboni comes out on the ice I told my wife look that things leaking tranny fluid. By the time it hits center ice on its first pass it let loose. Looked like a massacre happened. Then the driver gets stuck on the ice/tranny fluid and has a hell of a time getting it off the ice. Took them a while to get it all cleaned up. Finished the game on one Zamboni. Guess they'll be calling ATS or Suncoast on Monday.
Sorry for the bad pics they're from my camera phone and I couldn't figure out how to make them bigger.

Those Zamboni machines have a hydrostatic transmission, like a Bobcat or a John Deere lawn tractor. This one probably blew a hydraulic hose.
I grew up in Minnesota, where hockey is king. I've seen a lot of Zambonis resurfacing ice, but never seen one malfunction like that. What a mess!

The funny thing was Iceberg (the penguin mascot) was on the ice at that time screwing around. Looked like he got ran over. They ended up just milling all the fluid up with the other zamboni. I'msure they called Safety Clean and had it disposed of properly.
