Default New 08 2500 6.7 w manual trans question

I just purchased a 08 2500 4x4 Ram Crew Cab. It has a manual 6 speed transmission. What a beast---I love it. I do need some advice concerning the clutch & transmission.

[ul][*]I feel a significant vibration through the clutch pedal while going through the grears. It feel like a cross between a vibration and grind. The service mgr at the dealer says this is normal. I'm a little nervous as I have an 07 1500 Ram, 6 cyl and 6 speed manual and have had to have 2 clutch slave cylinders replaced.[*]When I go into 5th gear, I feel a slight grind/catch. Again the dealer guy says no problem.[/ul]
The truck only has 600 miles on it and these issues may resolve upon break-in, however I'd appreciate any of your expert thoughts. I'm aleady getting 15 mpg joint city/highway and believe this will improve.

Thanks

dan

We have the same transmission and I don't have any vibes in the clutch pedal, but mine has had the slight catch going into 5th since day one. It is a little better if you run the RPM's up to around 2300 or so for that shift.

BTW, welcome aboard.

the catch into 5th gear has been a common thing from what i have seen here at the dealer. have even replace a couple synchros but did not help believe they just have a different feel. as far as the vibration do you only feel it in the clutch pedal or where else do you feel it? shifter? wheel? have seen a couple clutch pressure plate finger issues that cause unequal pressure or release that make a vibration but only felt in the pedal let me know

I can't recall feeling a vibration throught the clutch, or any catching/grinding going into 5th. I do try to match speeds when I shift to keep the synchros in good shape.

If you're ever in Annapolis give me a shout. You can try driving mine and see how it compares to yours.

Your MPG is not going to get ny better any time soon. I have almost 6,000 miles and my mileage has stayed the same, even on highway.
