Like Jimmy said above.
Get a couple of good size sticks or dowel rods and wrap about 10 ft of fishing line around one of them and then enough around the other one to hold it on. Use that like a saw, it's much easier on the fingers. Then thread it behind the emblems and KEEP IT AS FLAT AS POSSIBLE and saw through the 2-sided tape. You have to keep it flat or else the emblems cut the fishing line as it rubs.
Then take some citrus goo gone (MAKE SURE IT'S THE NON-ACETONE ONE) and soak the remaining adhesive. Let it sit a few minutes, then use the heat gun and a rag soaked in some more goo gone and gently start to lift (push) the remaining adhesive off.
Once you get it down to specks and pieces, use some wax and use it just like you are waxing the truck and this will get the rest of the crap off and add some protection back.
