Allot of people have no idea what it takes and cost to get that gallon of fuel to you. I will give you just a small portion of the cost. And this is just to get to it. This does not include completing the well, installing a production facility, pipe lines and so on. Keep in mind that this is a fraction of the cost. And you no that almost 7 out of 10 wells are dry hole. Meaning that money is gone. Yes you can write it off but it is no longer a part of your operating capital.

If you want put some hurt to the oil companies then what you need to do is to get all the people in the USA to not drive at all on weekends unless its and emergency. It would be faster if we could get everyone to not drive at all for 7-10 days.

It may not sound like much by not driving on weekends but a lot of fuel gets burned up on weekends and even more so in the summer time. BTW one reason that gas inventory is at a 14 year high is because people are buying less of it due to the high cost and slowing of the economy.
