Lube Filtration Systems

Product Literature

At Cummins Filtration, we have a history of innovation in lube filtration technology. Since introducing the FleetguardĀ® LF502 bag filter and spool full flow lube filter for Cummins engines in 1959, Cummins Filtration has led the industry by developing increasingly advanced products. Introduction of the LF750 by-pass filter in 1960 and the LF670 large diameter, pleated paper, full flow, spin-on lube filter in the 1970s kept us at the forefront of technology.

In the 1980s, Cummins Filtration took another step forward with the introduction of combination full flow/by-pass filtration in the patented LF3000ā„¢. The LF3000ā„¢ led the way for today's advanced lube filtration systems, which provide increased engine life over all service intervals, as well as:

[ul][*]Extended service intervals [*]Increased vehicle uptime[*]Decreased vehicle maintenance costs[*]Reduced disposal costs [/ul]
Why By-pass Filtration Is Superior
With the introduction of combination lube filtration technology, Cummins Filtration revolutionized the industry. As SAE 710813/790098 confirms, by-pass filtration reduces engine wear in the following key areas:

[ul][*]Upper connecting rod bearing shell[*]Lower connecting rod bearing shell[*]Upper main bearing shell[*]Lower main bearing shell [/ul]StrataPoreā„¢ Media
By implementing the revolutionary StrataPoreā„¢ multi-layered media in the 1990s, the combo filter was improved even more. StrataPoreā„¢ was introduced in the full flow section to work in combination with the stacked discs to remove the smallest dirt particles, which cause the most engine damage. This configuration reduces engine wear by as much as 60% in some applications.

Venturiā„¢ Combo System
The technology was taken even further with the introduction of the Venturiā„¢ Combo. The OEM-approved Venturiā„¢ allows the lube system to perform up to four times as long and remove up to three times the contaminants as a full synthetic filter. The patented Venturiā„¢ nozzle provides a low-pressure zone for the oil to flow through the pleated media for increased efficiency. This innovative technology results in longer life and better performance for your vehicle. And, unlike its competitors, the Venturiā„¢ Combo was tested in a real world environment, not bench tested.

Venturiā„¢ Combo Lube Filtration

Product Literature

The Venturiā„¢ Combo takes lube filtration to a new level of performance. As part of our ES Systemā„¢ product line, the Venturiā„¢ Combo lube filter offers key benefits that support extended service intervals (ESI) without compromising engine protection. Like all our ES System products, the Venturiā„¢ Combo can help reduce unexpected, expensive repairs and downtime.

Extended Service Without Compromise
The Venturiā„¢ Combo's key features support ESI:

[ul][*]Enhanced gasket and media durability[*]Real world contaminant removal[*]Real world contaminant capacity[*]Low cold-flow restriction [/ul]Real World Testing and Performance
Sludge, which occurs when contaminants concentrate in oil, causes extreme engine wear. In the real world outside the laboratory, sludge is an all-too-common enemy. By using real world testing, not simple bench testing, Cummins Filtration has proven that the Venturiā„¢ Combo's by-pass-stacked discs remove harmful sludge and allow the lube system to perform more effectively than full-flow only synthetic filters. In fact, the Venturiā„¢ Combo removes up to three times as many contaminants as full-flow-only synthetic filters.

By-pass Filtration: Superior By Design
Cummins Filtration led the industry by developing by-pass filtration in the 1980s. This technology was quickly adopted as standard by many original equipment manufacturers worldwide. The Venturiā„¢ Combo, featuring our patented StrataPoreā„¢ media and stacked-disc design, removes the smallest dirt particles-which cause the most engine damage-and reduces engine wear by more than 60%, in some cases.

Here's how it works: First, the patented Venturiā„¢ nozzle creates a low-pressure zone to help oil flow efficiently through the stacked-disc section. Then, the nozzle diffuser maximizes the flow through the pleated StrataPoreā„¢ media for minimum total-filter restriction.

Why is this better? Because in the real world:

[ul][*]Cellulose media and current gasket materials are not durable enough for extended service use.[*]Low flow restriction is critical to engine protection, especially in cold-start situations.[*]Lube filtration systems must have sludge-removal capabilities for extended service use.[*]Filter plugging, high-soot engine testing is the best way to measure filter capacity. [/ul]
Innovative design and thorough testing make Venturiā„¢ Combo the answer for your real world filtration needs.

Below is the reply I just received about using this filter.

Cummins does not recommend a Venturi Combo for the Dodge, Cummins 5.9L or the 6.7L engines.
