Default Strange code?

While trying to get the hrs of my truck, I got a code I have never seen before

If I hold in the trip reset, then turn the key to on this is what happens:

1. All the cluster lights come on
2. The gauges all go to max then step back down to 0
3. odometer reads "S_Code"
4. Then I get 2 sets of numbers "XX XX"
5. Then the numbers reset to "00 00"

What is this?

I'm not sure what that is, but it's not error codes. Everything is going through a check process.

To get codes, turn the key on-off-on-off-on and leaving it on, (not starting the truck, just to the on position) and that should show the Pxxxx code if you have one.

all you did was a display function check and all is well.

if your wanting the Hr meter you need to make sure the readout is in the ODO mode and not the trip mode, then push and hold the trip button while turning the key to run and it will read out in a few seconds.

Doing what Drew is saying will cause the guage/light test to happen. Turn the key to "on" first, and THEN hold down the trip button while in ODO mode for 10-15 sec. This should get you your hour reading. It took me a few tries to get it to work.
