When I first started my truck this morning, as soon as it fired up, I heard a knock, it sounded like the clutch fork. When I started when I was leaving work, the noise was gone. It only does this every now and then, and only when it is being started for the first time that day. My mileage is 4401 as it sits in the driveway now. Any Ideas?

 

It is begging to be parked in my driveway with the bill remaining in your mailbox.

cold weather?? really cold???

diesels will "knock" when cold and tryin to run.

otherwise bad fuel, or water in fuel.

try some power service diesel kleen...1/2 bottle if you have 30gal tank...


if it is coming from places other than the engine, find a good mechanic

 

It is just one single knock. sounds like someone kicked my truck from underneath. Maybe I wiggled the starter loose or something.
