First Brake Job
Anytime guys. I might not know alot about the Cummins, but Im here to learn. if I can help in the process with systems I am familiar with, Im more than glad to offer my opinion! A brake system is a brake system. How theyre implemented and engineered may vary but the basics still apply.
As far as brakes go, once your commited to a brake job on an 06 and up IS 250/350, your skills machining rotors bets ALOT better. Ive never seen a worse rotor in my career. Damn things are shot at 35K miles! Dunno if our engineers are simply getting deeper into the parts side of the industry or its just got to be that extreme of a setup but these suckers are WEARING. We are lucky to get ONE cut out of them, often they are very close to minimum spec once we are done machining them.
Good part about that is our cars do stop on a dime, but there is really alot of wear. Very glad to hear that the brakes on the HD Rams are durable. Lol, dont think anyone buying these trucks for work/industrial jobs would appreciate shot rotors at 35K!

i know that BG makes a liquid that you put on your brake pads and let it soak in and dry then install the pads. we only use it at the garage if pads are squealing and it seems to work well. also be sure to put lube everywhere that metal touches metal. even on the back of the pad where it touches the caliper. this always is some extra help to make sure that things shouldn't squeak.
Thanks Les Schwab....I just got back from the Tire Factory next to my office...brakes are fine, %40 or so left..rotors are fine.I already bought some pads but will hold on to them till I really need em! Little annoyed at Les Schwab at the moment, but ah well. I just know where I will go next time I need my brakes checked!!
