I'm straight piped 4" no cat on my '03. The truck sounds good from the outside. Alot like a big truck, however the drone in the cab is going to drive you crazy.
My rearview mirror will vibrate so much I can't tell what is behind me when the rpm's are in the 1900 to 2300 range.
I want an Aero, just don't have the money yet.
One plus with the straight pipe. If you are the type that likes to hear the turbo whistle, this set-up will do just that. When I turn my truck off, you can hear the turbo spinning for several seconds after the engine stops.

I've been straight for 4 years now... (piped that is!) LMAO!!!

But here is my simple write up on it...
http://mopar.mopar1973man.com/2002%2...aight_pipe.htm

I don't think it loud at all... It rather quiet in the cab and I can even roll down the windows without it being over powering loud... But If I jump on the throttle I can be heard up to a full mile away!

Thanks for the input. I am in a carpool so I'm sure I'll get some complaints when its my week to drive, but if they want to tone it down they can chip in for an Aero. May be a good way to get a new muffler.

What does this Aero sound like? Why is it so great?
This is Buzzy's truck, stock, then no cat and the Aero

I don't know if my opinion counts,I just got 6" turbo back straight pipe into dual 6" stacks. I love it, but its too loud under throttle for my boy with the windows down. If you're running 4" pipe, I'd probably go with the Aero (if they had a 6" muffler I might try it).

i have been thru about 5 diffrent exhaust set ups and having 2 mufflers was one of them. i liked because it created more back pressure which in return gave me better low end throttle response and increased mileage, BUT it was very close to the stock sound so i went on in search of a better set up.

and for my $.02 on straight pipe, i dident like it for 3 reasons...

1.) ALL low end was lost, but i did not have a chip in so i suppose it could of been made up?!?!
2.) lost mileage......around 1.5
3.) to loud, rumbly, and had alot of drone.

the only way i said i would go back to it is if i raised the rig, put big mud tires on, had crazy horsepower running thru it and had stacks.

IMO the sound did not match my stock looking truck BUT thats just my take on it. you gotta try diffrent things out to see where your "sweet spot" is!

I just got home from the muffler shop. The truck sounds pretty good. Not near as loud as I feared. It's not any louder at cruising speeds than it was before, but it will sing when you step on it. As for the old muffler, it was full of crap out of my old cat. The guy at the muffler shop said he had never seen one like it. My EGTs are about 75-100F lower, so hopefully I'll see at least some of the mileage I have been missing.
