loss of power for my cummins
hi guy's I'm a newby so go easy on me so this is my question hopfulyyou can help i've had my 99 2500 for three years and when I bought it used it had tones of power when the sevice engine light came on I took it to the dealer and they said the injector pump was bad and they replaced it $1500 later. When I got the truck back it had half the power it had before. I had to go to Organ that week from California andI thought the power would come back it need to break in stuped right? so it hasn't been fixxed I just drive it. so times the I hit the gas and the truck hesitates then it slowly takes off. I've been told it is timing but the chilton book says you can't ajust the 24 valve engine so I'm at a loss. and the mileage went from 21 mph to 13,14mph and no smoke out the tale pipe??????

RE: loss of power for my cummins
thanks for the correction finny. Drew the bill only showed the injector pump and new fuel filter, as for the VP44 what is that don't know much about diesels worked on lots of gas engines only thanks. I did look and I do have the 53 block. SC Willie trased the fuel line and known of it was crushed from tank to the engine it all started after the pump was changed.

Did they forget to connect your turbo intake hoses after the VP44 replacement? I know that the elbow has to be removed to replace the injector pump. Maybe one of the boots slipped off and you aren't getting any boost. The#1 sign for fuel starvation is tons of white smoke and you said it isn't smoking at all. Sounds more like a turbo problemthan fuel starvation.
