Check for mods on the truck. While not necessarilly bad, it'll give you an idea of how it was used.
1 - Look for sticky tape on the fuse box under the hood or on the side of the battery. This would indicate a box was installed.
2 - Have them check the key counter with the ScanTool. Any irregularities there might indicate a programmer was installed.
3 - Check the exhaust manifold for drill holes that may have a plug in it. That would be an EGT probe.
Other than that, as mentioned about, get the maint / repair recs.
An 05 or 06 is a good choice.
