fuel problem
ok, new to the forum, hoping someone can help me out with a new problem.
2001 Ram2500 cummins
After going about 200 miles, I stop to use the restroom. I shut off the engine. when I return it will turn over but will not start. I can pretty well tell it is not getting fuel.
I open up the drain valve for the filter. Very little fuel comes out - maybe a couple of drops.
I actually unscrew the drain valve thinking that it may be plugged. I get a little more fuel but not much more.
After letting the truck sit for about 10 minutes, I turn the key on again and can now hear a pump running under the hood - this sounds good!!
I open up the drain valve to check and get a full stream of fuel.
I try to start again and it starts right up. I then continue my trip home. I don't stop and it runs fine another 100 miles.
When I get home, I shut the engine off. I let it sit a few seconds then try to start again. It does not start and appears starved for fuel again.
Is this a pump problem or a relay? Just hoping someone can help. Thanks

what no hi hello howaryous?
There's a lot of threads about vp44 pumps.
So the only time it works is when you can hear the pump, and when you can't hear the pump it doesn't work. always start cheap and work your way up. Maybe you need new spark plugs [8/|]
could be a lift pump failure, are you getting any codes like p0216
