Help! 315/70/17 tires--3500 ram
Will my 2008 3500 diesel handle bfg 315/70/17's without any lift or level kit?
Will they rub at all?
Will they affect the quality of my ride?
Will a level kit affect the quality of my ride?

I have a 06' Megacab CTD and I put the same exact tires on my truck and its all stock. I did get after market rims. I have no clearance and no rub issues, except when I turn into a steep driveway making a right turn there is a very very very very slight rub that is so minor I would not even call it rubbing, and how often do I turn into a step driveway? Not often at all. That is the only time it ever does it. I was liked you concerned until another member here did the same thing. Also, I bought my tires at Costco (315/70/17). I had to get them installed at another location, because Costco will only mount stock tire sizes, but they will rotate and fill with that Nitrogen air for free. Depending on the price your getting for a set, that is something to consider.

Thanks for the info. Are your tires bfg's? Did ithe 315'saffect the ride of your vehicle as compared to smaller tires (it came with 265's)?
Do you recommend anything different?
Do they fill out the wheel well nicely?
Would 33's be too small? ( I had them on my 1500)?
You didn't need a leveling kit?
Any downside on performance and ride with a leveling kit?
thanks again for your assistance

There is a Guy who works were I do he has a 2005 3500 quad single wheels truck, same size tire as yours withstock rims. They do rub slightly just like JT824Megacabtread. I was going to put the same size tires as yours. Since I 4x4 with a Camper I didn't want to aggravate the issue so I bought the tires in my signature. Good luck.

flatwoodsYes my wheels are stock! Here is MayFairs tiresizecalculator shows the comparison. These tires are almost identical in size too 285x70x17. I wanted the size you have, didn't want to do a suspension lift and don't mind a minor rub. With my truckbed camper weight ~ 1.75Klb's I din't know if this would aggravate the rubbing.Didn't want to there. Ok empty rubbing more under heavy load! Quality tires aren't cheap![sm=icon_cheers.gif]

I have those on my truck buth with a level kit. 2005 2500 srw 4x4. I would strongly urge you too look into pro-comp as I do nto like these tires very much. if I was not losing my truck I would go with something from the pro comp line.

Forgot to mention that the BFG A/T 315/70/17 is a "D" rated tire while the stock is "E" rated. If you are towing heavy that is something to consider because it was designed for "E" rated tires. The last time I checked, BFG did not offer 315's in an "E" rating. I have a 7000lb boat so im not concerned and I have now rub issues while towing. Guess I should have been more clear about the rubbing. Itonly happens when I make a right turninto a steep driveway and it is only the right front tire that does it. The tire just catches the inside portion of the fender. There is not any noticeable damage to my tire or the fender. It is so minor that you may not even notice. The other 3 tires dont rub. If you have the truck parked on level ground you can turn right and left lock to lock and both fronttires clear. The rear tires are not even an issue plenty of clearance.
BTW ....I have the BFGA/T

If you carry any heavy loads or tow. Don't go with "D" tires they'll wear prematurely and cost to much for the miles you'll get. I owned a set of BFG TA's, it was my last set. I don't like the tread pattern, they are good in try rocky roads really suck in mud and heavy snow. The treads have no path to the outside of the tire so they just load up and become slicks. They suck in my opinion.
